CAPROCK CANYONS

The Canyons, located southeast of Amarillo, transition the eastern plains to the high tables of the Llano Estacado. Caprock Canyons are home to the largest heard of Bison in Texas that freely roam throughout the park.

In addition to the Bison that roam the plains, you will find abundant wildlife, including African aoudad sheep, deer, coyotes, bobcats, and foxes.

The cliffs showcase a broad canvas of assorted colors and a wide variety of flora such as cacti, mesquite, juniper, plum, hackberry, cedar, and cottonwood trees characteristic of West Texas. 

Caprock Canyons also offers many activities such as hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. You can also enjoy Lake Theo for some fishing and swimming or paddleboarding.
